Many local businesses were in attendance to welcome Hays into the new II Exchange Square building.

Having been reported as one of the top growth cities for 2018, Milton Keynes’s employment opportunities are set to be at their highest.

A recent report produced by Hays and sponsored by Deloitte shows 7.5 million people are within an hour’s drive of Milton Keynes and highlights Milton Keynes as a ‘digital hotspot’. However, recent figures discussed by Councillor Petchey show that there are currently “more jobs than candidates” in the Milton Keynes area.

Richard Wratten, director of Hays Milton Keynes, echoed this by announcing the “need for more advanced talent-attraction techniques” not only to attract the talent for our more traditional recruitment areas such as Finance, HR and Office Support, but also for local niche/skills-shortage areas such as Social Care, Digital Technology and Engineering.

Mayor Councillor Martin Petchey officially opened the new offices and spoke about the importance of local employment, as well as organisations working together to support the further rapid expansion of Milton Keynes.

The business base in Milton Keynes alone has already grown almost 40% in recent years and work is underway on the Eastern and Western expansions of the city amounting to over 700 hectares of new development, Invest-Milton Keynes states that, when completed, will include more than 10,000 new homes and over 100 hectares of employment land.

This new growth will see our city compete economically and culturally with other elite cities across the world.
