At Gloucester crown court Louis Head, of Bushy close, Milton Keynes, pleaded guilty to causing the death of 25 year old Richard Michie, of Bletchley, by driving an Audi Q7 dangerously on the A429 at Fossebridge, between Cirencester and Stow on the Wold, Glos.

Three charges against him of offering drugs for sale were not proceeded with by the Crown.

Prosecutor Janine Wood said the Crown was not suggesting Head was racing when the fatal crash happened but the case was that he was speeding when he negotiated a bend and drifted over double white lines into the oncoming lane.

John Lamb, defending, agreed “Speed is the key, largely.”

Judge Michael Cullum said “His road positioning was the result of speed. It was not formal racing. It cannot be said if there was any intention to overtake or not but there was following dangerously closely behind.”

Mr Lamb said Head had recently been referred to a psychiatrist for depression and post traumatic stress disorder as a result of the collision. It is my application to adjourn for a medical report. “

He asked for an adjournment till Dec 1st and the judge agreed. He bailed Head till then and imposed an interim driving ban on him.

The judge told Head “I need to know more about you, in particular the element of medical health assistance you have been given and which you continue to get. “

He warned him that a prison sentence is inevitable.
