Milton Keynes man convicted of burglary

A 23-year-old man who was caught red-handed during a burglary has been sentenced to 30 months in prison.

Richard Potton, of Haddon, Great Holm, pleaded guilty on Thursday and was sentenced on the same day.

He threw a brick at the glass pane of the rear door of a house in Robertson Close, Shenley Church End at around 10am on July 30.

He then searched the house with the intention to steal items, but was discovered and after a foot pursuit he was arrested and charged on the same day.

PC Chris Downs said: “Potton committed this burglary having no regard to the victims or the impact it would have on them.

“He invaded their privacy by entering their home intending to steal their property. Potton was sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment which is a great result and a lesson learnt that Thames Valley Police will deal with people who commit crime robustly and swiftly.”

Potton was on licence at the time of the offence, following a previous sentence for burglary dwelling with violence.
