A man from Milton Keynes who is a self-confessed ‘picky’ eater recorded himself trying an egg for the first time - aged 24.
In the video published on YouTube Alex Brinnand, from Woburn Sands, is offered a fried egg by flatmate Chris Foxx.
Alex can be seen attempting to eat part of the egg white, only to spit it out and throw it away, declaring “he doesn’t like it”.
Because the concept of eating an egg is normal to almost everyone, Alex’s reaction when he is presented with “such a runny yolk” is dramatic and over the top.
Alex explains: “I really pushed my boundaries for this, for me it’s kind of a big deal.
“I’m not vegan and I’m not allergic to anything, I just don’t try new things and I never ate eggs when I was younger.
“I don’t really know why, I never thought it was that much of a big deal.”
Alex has a huge list of foods he doesn’t eat, which includes pasta, tomatoes, cheese, rice, crisps, tea, Chinese food, onions - the list goes on.
After an “intense” reaction on social media, Alex has decided to make him trying food into a web-series.
The video’s will be recorded with flatmate Chris and published onto Alex’s YouTube channel, ‘Alex J’.
Alex added: “Most people don’t understand how I have lived for 24 years without ever eating or doing the most basic things.
“The reaction on social media has been pretty intense, I’m still trying to decide what to try for the next video - nothing is off-limits.”
Alex’s mum, Amanda said: “He just never really wanted to try anything growing up.
“I always thought I was doing the right thing by not forcing him so that he wouldn’t have issues with food. Maybe I got that a bit wrong.
“But at least he’s trying new things now.”
Which leaves us to question Alex, what does he eat?
He said: “On a normal day I eat lots of plain breads, cereal and dry foods like biscuits.
“I do sometimes splash out and eat vegetables like carrots or lettuce but that’s about it.
“I also eat plain, boneless chicken which makes up the majority of my meals, I don’t eat many traditional meals so eating out can be a struggle - but I’m open to trying new foods and my preferences have never stopped me from doing anything.”
