But, far from putting his feet up, Ricky Menzies has set himself one more challenge before he starts uni.

He plans to climb the three highest peaks in the UK in under 24 hours on his way back to his Bradville home.

The MK former special constable, who is 26, set out at the beginning of summer to walk from Lands End to John O’Groats to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis society.

But when he reached his destination he decided to carry on to the most northerly point of the UK, a Scottish island called Unst.

Ricky said: “I stood out on the edge of the uk, fell to my knees and just stared out to sea. Nothing at that point stood between me and the North pole.

I can’t even describe the range of emotions I felt.

“I felt sick and anxious at the fact my journey was over. Overjoyed and a huge sense of pride. But mostly I felt peaceful. I had done everything I set out to do and more”

He added: “I hope my journey doesnt only inspire people to “get out there and have more adventures” but also to be more kind to each other. I would never have made it without the help of strangers. 108 days of walking, 1300 miles and I can only thank my lucky stars I met so many amazing people along the way.”
