Milton Keynes MP speaks of his shock at Jo Cox killing

Milton Keynes South MP Iain Stewart has spoken of his shock at the killing of Labour MP Jo Cox yesterday.

“I’m terribly shocked and upset by what happened to one of my colleagues,” he told the Citizen.

“In the short time she has been an MP she has established a strong reputation as a kind and passionate MP.

“To be attacked and killed while at work in her constituency is utterly shocking.

“My thoughts and prayers are with her family and her colleagues.”

Mrs Cox, 41, was stabbed and shot after holding a constituency surgery in Birstall, West Yorkshire.

A 52 year old man has been arrested in relation to the incident.

At Milton Keynes Council offices flags are flying at half mast as a mark of respect.
