The Pop Up Hub will fill two empty shops next door to Whittards, near Marks and Spencer.

It will sell handcrafted, unique gifts and products made by family businesses, local mums at home or dads in garden sheds.

These will include personalised presents, children’s clothing, cakes and upcycled furniture, said organiser Samantha Poole, who runs the Mums to Mums MK group.

“It will be a place for the community to grow their businesses – and a brilliant place for people to buy Christmas presents that are a little bit different,” said Samantha, who is a single mum to two boys.

The pop up will also host workshops and ranging from love rock painting to card making.

The youngest ‘trader’ will be an eight year old boy, who makes his own ‘wish’ bracelets with charming handwritten instructions.

But before the new venture can open, Samantha has to raise £15,000 to cover two months’ worth of rent and bills for the two units.

She has launched a crowdfunding campaign on www.crowdfunder.co.uk/the-pop-up-hubIf the Christmas venture is successful, Samantha hopes to open the pop up again at intervals throughout 2019.
