Milton Keynes murder accused '˜laughed and joked' in court

A man laughed and joked when he appeared in court accused of murdering his wife.

Paul Hemming, 42, only spoke to confirm his name and address when he appeared at Milton Keynes magistrates’ court on Saturday.

Hemming, of Newton Leys, Milton Keynes is accused of murdering his wife Natalie, 31, at their home sometime between May 1 and May 2.

Before the hearing he entered the dock wearing a t-shirt and grey trousers. He appeared to laugh and joke with the two security guards who flanked him.

Natalie, a mother-of-three, has not been seen since leaving her mother’s house in Hemel Hempstead at 4pm on Sunday. Her body has still not been found.

Prosecuting for the CPS Julian Vickery said: “This is a matter that should be sent directly to Luton crown court and I have asked that the defendant is remanded in custody.”

Hemming’s defence lawyer Phil Mahoney did not comment during the hearing.

In the five minute hearing chairman of the bench Mike Smith remanded him back into custody to appear at Luton crown court at 10am this morning (Monday).

Hemming’s custody time limit expires on November 4.
