Milton Keynes Music Centre students enjoy Netherlands tour

More than 50 of the council's Community Learning MK Music Centre students' have just returned from a busy five day music summer tour of the Netherlands.

The summer tour allowed the students’ to visit and rehearse at the Nemo Science Museum during the day and they performed to a private audience in the evening. The students’ played their last number outside on the roof of the museum to an audience of keen museum and music lovers.

The first concert the choir, string orchestra, wind band and brass quartet performed brilliantly according to their audience.

Other performances included a retirement home where the choir, string orchestra, wind band and wind quintet to an audience of elderly and sick residents of the home. A local old church in Delft was also another venue where the team performed to a large audience of locals and tourists alike.

Highlights of the trip also included the students visiting the Van Gogh museum and a town called Delft known for its blue pottery and the hometown to the Dutch painter Vermeer.

Councillor Zoe Nolan, Cabinet Member for Children and Families said, “This tour would not have been possible without the hard work of all the students and staff involved, well done to MK Music Centre.”
