And unusually, Greg and his partner Susie Verrill gave their first child FIVE names, officially calling him Milo Andrew William James Nugget Rutherford.

The 27-year-old sportsman said: “William and James after our granddads, and Nugget is the name we gave him when Susie was first pregnant.

“We’ve even put it on the birth certificate.”

Speaking to Hello! magazine the proud dad from Woburn Sands admitted he cried his eyes out when his son was born.

He said: “The Olympic gold will always be the greatest thing that has ever happened to me in my athletics career, but nothing could come close to how happy I felt when I first saw Milo’s lovely little face.

“I was crying my eyes out.”

On October 20, the British long jump record holder tweeted his 153,000 Twitter followers with a picture of his newborn saying it was the “happiest day” of his life.

Greg added: “Milo’s already bringing me luck. He’s in my thoughts when I’m going to jump and that brings a great deal more emotion.

“It’s been wonderful to end the year on a high.”
