The new base will be a modern main-style branch with extended opening hours and three modern serving positions - one open-plan, one full-screened and a Post Office service point alongside the retail counter.

An extra 42 hours of Post Office services including Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons with much later opening every day. It will also mark an end to lunchtime closing, although the date of the move has yet to be announced.

The move is part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.

“We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents,” said Will Russell, Regional Manager.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”

The new branch will be in line with Post Office specifications to ensure sufficient space for the new style local Post Office to operate alongside the retail offer.
