Milton Keynes RE teacher on child porn charges

The head of religious studies at a city school has been charged with a string of child pornography offences.

Phillip Allen, 48, had taught at Shenley Brook End school since 2011.

As a result of the police investigation he no longer works at the school.

Allen is a prominent figure in religious education. He has been a member of the teacher panel of the Times Educational Supplement TES), for which he writes frequently.

He is also a national TES advisor for key stage 4 religious studies.

Police seized computer equipment at his Potterspury home earlier this year and he was charged last month,

He faces three charges of making indecent images of children - one of them at category A, which is the highest possible level of pornography.

He is also charged with possession of extreme pornography.

Allen is due to appear in court for an initial hearing on Monday.

A spokesman for Northants police said: “We can confirm a 48-year-old man from Potterspury has been charged with making indecent images of children, following an investigation by Northamptonshire Police.”
