The Milton Keynes Monopoly ‘Big Reveal’ is just one roll of the dice away – and a Milton Keynes schoolboy is to open the very first board after winning a city-wide competition.

Eden Jefferson, eight, won a search by Monopoly: MK Edition makers for a ‘VIP’ to star at the launch of the new official board for the city, on 24 October 24- the same day the game goes on sale.

Eden will not only be a Very Important (little) Person but a Very Important Player too, as he will get to play the very first board at the launch.

He has won the accolade after winning a competition with the following poem:

Monopoly’s the game for me,

I’d love to be the ‘VIP’.

To open the box and launch the game,

I’d even have the hat and cane.

So please MK, choose Eden J,

To open the board and win the day!

Eden, from Milton Keynes, said: “I feel honoured and I can’t wait to see the board.” His proud dad Adam, who will be at the launch too, added: “We’re all really excited – this is an amazing opportunity from the Monopoly makers for Eden to be a ‘VIP’ in this way.”

Dan Taylor, Monopoly development director at Winning Moves UK – makers of the board under licence from Hasbro – said: “Eden will be a VIP in every sense of the word and we are delighted he and his father have agreed to be a huge part of the launch party. His entry was world class – as good as we have ever seen anywhere. So many congratulations!”

Eden wins the first signed board and also gets to discover who is on the board ahead of the launch. “That’s provided he promises not to reveal all on Facebook!” added Mr Taylor.

Eden is pictured at the MK Museum – tipped to be on the board. Museum director Bill Griffiths said: “Congratulations to Eden for his winning poem, which we hope to display in the museum. As everyone who visits the museum sees – we’re great fans of games the whole family can play together.”

The Monopoly: MK Edition will be unveiled in “spectacular style”, adds Mr Taylor. A giant replica of the board will be unfurled in the city for the public to see. The board will be available from October 24 from John Lewis, The Works, Toys R Us, Waitrose, Waterstones and WH Smith. It will also be available widely online, including
