Is Milton Keynes supporting Eu-style driving - or simply doing the Hokey Cokey?

A '˜Hokey Cokey' roundabout is less than okey-dokey as far as confused motorists are concerned.

A contractor’s blunder led to two sets of blue arrow and chevron signs being placed on the same roundabout at Walnut Tree.

But the problem is that each set of signs points in a different direction.

One tells drivers to keep left while the other, in true EU a style, orders them to go to the right.

Milton Keynes Council this week apologised for the confusion, and blamed the blunder on a highway contractor.

A council spokesman said: “This mistake by the contractor was very disappointing and there really can be no excuse for it. We can confirm it was rectified as soon as it was pointed out by the Citizen.”

Meanwhile the Hokey Cokey roundabout inspired one reader to write the following verse:‘You put your right indicator on, you put your right indictor off, you put your left indicator on, you put your left indictor off, you do the hokey cokey... and you wonder if its a new EU round about!’
