Milton Keynes teenager wins handling prize at Crufts 2017

It proved to be a day to remember for student Antonia, after her five-year-old Bassett Fauve De Bretagne '“ Scooby '“ put his best paw forward to help her claim a prestigious prize at Crufts 2017.

Scooby was one of 22,000 dogs at Birmingham’s NEC for the world’s largest show on Thursday, competing with Great Brickhill owner Antonia Leech in the Young Kennel Club’s Handling competition for 17-24 year olds.

After enjoying their own moment in the spotlight, Antonia, a veterinary medicine student, could not be more delighted with Scooby’s performance in the West Midlands after they walked away with first place.

“I’m super happy, I was not expecting it because it was a really tough group,” said 19-year-old Antonia.

“Scooby’s a dog in a million, you won’t find someone like him everywhere.

“I won best of breed with him at Crufts a few years ago so he’s my first ever Crufts champion.

“He’s very special to me.”
