Inspired by Federico Fellini’s Oscar winning masterpiece, this soul-searching story filled with beauty, deep emotion, humour and acute observation, tells the tragic and tender tale of wide-eyed Gelsomina, who is sold by her impoverished mother to the brutish strongman Zampano, a travelling sideshow performer. Their journey through the Italian countryside leads them to a ragtag touring circus where they meet Il Matto, the free-spirited tightrope walker, who brings new hope to Gelsomina as he rekindles her broken spirit.

Directed by Olivier Award-nominee, Sally Cookson and with music composed by Benji Bower, this exciting new production features live music on stage that is integral to the work and drives the narrative.
