Milton Keynes woman fined for misusing a disabled blue Badge

A Milton Keynes woman has been left more than £500 out of pocket after using a disabled Blue Badge that she was not entitled to.

Deborah Bolton, 54, of Favell Drive, Furzton, pleaded guilty by post to misusing a Blue Badge in a case heard by city magistrates.

She had been seen by council officers displaying the badge while parked in a disabled bay at Milton Keynes hospital.

The badge had been issued to Ms Bolton’s employers and reported lost by them some months before.

She was fined £150, ordered to pay full costs of £420 and pay a victim surcharge of £20.

A council anti-fraud spokesperson said: “We take Blue Badge misuse very seriously. It is a criminal offence, but more importantly it means a parking space specifically set aside for disabled people to access services is not available to them.”

He added: “We will continue to actively pursue any reports of misuse.”

To report misuse call the Fraud Hotline on 01908 253587.
