Gill Boiling, of Fishermead, only began to talk about the enormous tragedy a few years ago and is taking on the 85-mile yomp to raise funds for two charities and to help others to release their demons.

Gill said: “Both my dad, Ronald Boiling, and my mum, Sylvia, had mental health issues. My dad suffered with depression and my mum had bipolar and had tried to take her own life a number of times.

“The weekend before it had been my mum’s birthday and we had stayed with them and had a great time.”

But 10 years ago, the emotional support had not been available. So she bottled her emotions up, which affected her entire outlook on life.

After she opened up in 2017, she has become a different person.

“I have a new lease of life and can do anything,” she said.
