The MK Citizen has teamed up with BP, as part of its Green Lights All The Way campaign, to give schools the opportunity to win £3,000 of sports equipment.

We are asking our readers to nominate deserving schools in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.

All you need to do is write in and explain (in no more than 300 words) why your local school deserves the Green Light for sports.

You’ll need to tell us: which school you’re nominating, what sports equipment they need and how winning this equipment would benefit the school and pupils.

Natalie Cattermole, spokesman for BP, said: “BP service stations are part of the local community, our staff live locally and we serve thousands of local people and others driving to and from the town.

“We are a part of the fabric of society in Milton Keynes and we want to help fund those up and coming sports stars. If you know of a school, please do nominate them. With more than 113 schools in Milton Keynes, we’re looking forward to lots of great entries.”

To enter simply send your nomination to, post it to Napier House, Auckland Park, Milton Keynes, MK1 1BU before 23:59 on June 26, 2014 with your name and telephone number, plus the school’s name, address and telephone number.

More information on the competition, including the terms and conditions and judging criteria, can be found at

Once the entry window closes a shortlist will be created based on the judging criteria. We will then announce a shortlist of schools on July 3 2014, with the winning school being decided by an email public vote.

To vote for your favourite shortlisted school simply email between July 3 and July 17 and the school with the most votes will be announced as the winner on July 24. So make sure you keep an eye out to see if your nominated school has made it to the next round and get voting. Please note, voting is limited to one vote per person.

The competition is part of BP’s Green Lights All The Way campaign to give the green light to local communities.

BP will also be bringing its BP Green Lights All the Way laser game to the Buckinghamshire County Show in August.
