MK club sailing to success after Sport England cash award

Milton Keynes Sailing Club has been awarded close to £42,000 from the Inspired Facilities fund of Sport England. The fund was set up to leave an Olympic and Paralympic 2012 legacy for the improvement of sporting facilities and to encourage greater participation in sport.

“We are super excited with this funding award which now makes it possible for us to extend and improve our facilities for all the members of the clubs at Caldecotte Watersports Centre, said Brian Naylor, MKSC Development Officer.

“It has taken nearly two years, a lot of hard work to secure the funding and great teamwork from all our members, the clubs, the Parks Trust and the sporting bodies to finally make this happen.

“We can now look forward to dramatically improving our facilities, and attracting more members to enjoy sailing at MKSC.”

The cash will be put to use expanding and fully renovating the changing rooms at the centre, with ground work already underway.

Club members range in age from five to 80 with sports also including rowing and canoeing.

To celebrate the cash injection MK Sailing Club is inviting people along to try the sport for free on Saturday, August 27.
