MK College offers special taster sessions to unsure students

Local school students have been offered the chance to enjoy a '˜hands-on' experience of life at Milton Keynes College over the next few weeks.

Special taster sessions being organised at Chaffron Way and Bletchley campuses for people unsure about what subject is best for them.

The sessions, in courses including sport, art and design and catering, provide an ideal opportunity for students interested the next stage of their education to gain a genuine sample of their chosen subject before committing to an application, says the college.

They will be led by the college’s expert tutors and held in the relevant courses’ dedicated teaching facilities.

Students will be able to experience their subject with interactive activities, and will be able to get answers to any questions that they may have.

With many students unsure of what subject may be best for them, there’s even the option to take part in more than one taster session.

Rehanna Khan, MK College’s Schools Liaison Officer, who manages the taster session programme, believes they are an invaluable part of the process of choosing the next steps in education.

She said: “Taster sessions are an excellent way for students to effectively ‘test-drive’ their chosen course.

“After consulting with schools in our community we decided that these kind of intimate, interactive sessions would provide students with a perfect opportunity to sample our courses in an environment as close to the real thing as possible.

“Last year was the first time that we ran sessions of this nature and they proved to be a great success, so we’re really excited to be able to extend our offering this year.”

To take part in one of the sessions, potential students can book online using the college’s dedicated web page at www.mkcollege.ac.uk
