MK ELECTIONS: Conservative
Nipping at Labour's heels are the Conservatives, who need just one more seat to be neck and neck and two more to overthrow their opponents.
Tories promise a better economy, better parking – including a new multi-storey car park, and better housing.
They pledge to build a new satellite grammar school to give more education choice to parents and students.
They would also introduce a community lottery to provide additional funding for the voluntary sector, and a better business economy by promoting MK as a place to invest. Investors with ideas for redeveloping the neglected parts of the city would be welcomed, they say.
Conservative leader Edith Bald has accused Labour of “running the council on an overdraft” and failing to get to grips with homelessness.
She has promised better housing, with a possibility of expanding available properties for key workers such as teachers and nurses.
The Tories’ manifesto also includes well-maintained streets and open spaces.
