MK Food Awards cook off is very, very tasty

The whites were donned and plates of tempting food served at MK College on Wednesday, at the fifth annual MK Food Awards cook off.

Each chef had three hours to make their dream meal - which included two starters from a mystery box, two main dishes and a trio of deserts to include a chocolate fondant, unbaked cheese cake and one other dessert of choice.

And it proved quite the tasty task for judges including Phil Fanning, Michelin star chef from Paris House, and Chris Gregg, director at MKFM.

“The morning offered an emotional roller-coaster of emotions with sweat, tears, mistakes, fabulous dishes and more,” said event director Steven Dryden-Hall.

The finalists at the Citizen supported event were Jack Behjet (Crooket Billet), Brendan Flynn (The Bell and Bear, Emberton), Grae Conyers (Nonna’s), Daniel Novak (Woburn Brasserie), Neil Grimble (Black Horse). Chris Doyle (Olivier’s), Spencer Orlington (Bistro Live) and Vikram Kumar Sharna (Maaya Indian).

They will discover who has made it into the top three chefs list at an award show on May 8 at Woburn Sculpture Gallery.
