David Lloyd Redway Runners recently presented the Social Eyes charity with a cheque for £2,842.38.

The Social Eyes Children and Young Persons’ Initiative is a charitable organisation in Milton Keynes, set up to raise awareness as to the difficulties, challenges and triumphs experienced by visually impaired young people.

The amount was primarily raised through numerous charity events over the past year, including club members having their photos taken with the Olympic torches originally carried by torchbearers from the running club, Julia Thornton, Tony Daglish and Alan Matthews.

The amount raised has been matched by Santander.

Pictured are some of the David Lloyd Redway Runners after a typical long Sunday run, presenting the charity cheque at the miniature railway at Caldecotte lake.

The carriage hidden by the sea of green T-shirts is the new disabled riding car for wheelchair access, which was sponsored by Parents and Carers Alliance MK.

The Milton Keynes Miniature Railway association has been running for 37 years, the last seven of which have been at Caldecotte raising funds for Social Eyes and Carers MK.
