Nicole Sedgebeer was rescued by a rough sleeper when she missed the last train back to MK after a night out in the capital.

With no phone battery left and about to burst into tears, she was spotted by homeless man Mark.

He calmed her down, escorted her to an all-night cafe, then returned to see her safely onto a train at the crack of dawn.

Afterwards Nicole, who lives on Monkston Park, posted a heartfelt thank you on Facebook.

“I hope this story makes people look twice when they see a homeless person,” she wrote.

“This man who I probably would have avoided
eye contact with if he asked for spare change, completely changed such a negative event into the most eye-opening event of my life,” she added

The post, complete with a selfie of Nicole and Mark, immediately went viral with thousands of ‘likes’.

Now Argos merchandiser Nicole has started an online campaign to help her hero and other homeless people like him.

Within a day her appeal raised more than £1,000, and the amount is still rising.

She said: “ I am completely over whelmed by how much my story has been shared.... I have created a Crowd funding page with the help of the Justgiving team for Mark and all of the homeless people in London. The kind act of one homeless man can help him and many others.

She added: “Mark embodies the best of humanity. He went out of his way to help me, a complete stranger, when the reality of his situation is that people walk past him every day without offering him help. Mark, you are one special man. I will never look down on a homeless person again.”
