Monopoly says charity addition is just purr-fect for Milton Keynes

The first of two Milton Keynes charities voted on to the Milton Keynes Monopoly board has been named.

Cats Protection Milton Keynes & District will star on a leading location on the new official board for the city.

It caught the makers’ imagination in particular as a cat replaced the iron as a Monopoly counter in a worldwide public vote in 2013.

London games chiefs reserved two prime sites on the customised board for two different MK charities when they appealed for public nominations earlier in the year and the second is to be revealed later today.

Marie Gillin, Cats Protection Milton Keynes & District’s branch co-ordinator, said: “We’re thrilled to be chosen for one of the two Monopoly sites reserved for charities.

“We’re sure this will go a long way in helping us raise our profile in the area which, of course, will benefit the cats in our care.”

The charity will appear on a ‘tax’ location in the expensive part of the board next to Mayfair, the board’s most exclusive site, from the board’s Monopoly original where players PAY money for landing on them.

22 MK property landmarks will feature on the new board which hits shop shelves in early October.

Monopoly chiefs felt this was “a nice fit” – instead of paying a ‘fine’ players may think about later making a ‘donation’ to charity.

Dan Taylor, head of Monopoly development at Winning Moves UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Cats Protection Milton Keynes & District on to the new MKMonopoly board – they proved extremely popular in the charity aspect of the public voting.”
