MP Iain Stewart has welcomed new figures showing the Government’s Start-Up Loans Scheme has helped 17 entrepreneurs, with loans totalling £75,000.
The investments have helped people in Milton Keynes set up their own businesses and across the country 10,000 Start-Up Loans have now been awarded, worth a total of £50 million.
Mr Stewart, who represents Milton Keynes South, said: “Because of the financial crisis we inherited, people who want to set up a new business have often found it hard to get a loan. This has prevented people with innovative ideas and aspiration from putting their business plans into action.
“These figures show that Start-Up Loans are changing that in Milton Keynes and across the whole of the UK. This will ensure that we don’t waste new businesses which are the lifeblood of a healthy economy, helping to create jobs and growth. That’s why we will keep supporting hardworking people who aspire to start their own businesses.”
