MILTON Keynes MP Iain Stewart did his best to raise awareness of HIV - by taking a test himself.
Mr Stewart attended the STaSS Health Fayre in Kingston last week to highlight the issue.
He said: “It’s been 30 years now since the discovery of AIDS and sadly people still aren’t aware of the dangers of the condition. It is important to focus not only on the vast steps made already in prevention, treatment and testing, but also on the challenges we’ve yet to overcome.
“I have taken this test to help raise awareness and encourage people to get tested as new evidence suggests that HIV treatment keeps people alive and reduces the chances of spreading the virus by 96 per cent. The test is relatively quick and pain free.”
