MP Iain Stewart signed the Book of Commitment in the House of Commons to pledge his commitment to honouring those who died during the Holocaust.
It is Holocaust Memorial Week, and Friday 27 marks the 67th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi concentration and extermination camp which is the site of the largest mass murder in history.
Locally, the Milton Keynes South MP will be leading a service at Christ the Cornerstone inviting the public to sign the Holocaust Memorial Day 2012 Pledge.
The pledge invites people to ‘Speak Up’ and ‘Speak Out’ against the language of hatred and prejudice.
Commenting on the Holocaust Memorial, Mr Stewart said: “Milton Keynes is a city built on diversity and I would like to use this period to encourage constituents to actively speak out against prejudice and intolerance today.”
