CITY MP Iain Stewart flexed his political muscles last week – in a Parliamentary tug of war competition.
Mr Stewart, the member for Milton Keynes South, represented the House of Commons in the annual contest against the Lords.
And the MP tasted victory as the elected members beat their counterparts in the second house 2-0.
The Parliamentary Tug of War event raised money for MacMillan Cancer Support.
The competition, which has been running for 25 years, helped raise over £100,000 for the charity that supports cancer patients and their families.
Mr Stewart said: “I have visited the cancer unit at Milton Keynes hospital on a number of occasions.
“The MacMillan accredited nurses there provide an outstanding care to patients and play an invaluable role in supporting them and their families through a difficult time. I was very happy to play my part to raise money to help keep their work going.
“I am also delighted to have been a member of the victorious Commons team. We beat the Lords 2-0.”
