Isobel Thompson, founder of city based baby company Morrck has been nominated for Business Mum of the Year in the Mumsclub Business Mum’s Awards 2012.

The Business Mum Awards recognise and reward those women who have started businesses and achieved success in a short space of time.

Morrck was established following the birth of Isobel’s twin girls in August 2003. Her babies were born prematurely and had to spend their first few months in hospital.

A professional woman with a busy and challenging career, she began to realise that her first priority, and true passion, were her children. However, one of her key frustrations was trying to find the right products for them.

Disappointed with the utter impracticality of so many baby products, she decided to do better, and so Isobel, along with her twins, invented the Baby Hoodie, a hooded travel wrap designed to fit into any car seat or buggy. Since those early days, Morrck now sells the Baby Hoodie in a range of colours and sizes, and has added the ‘Wrapture’ (poncho style coat), ‘Splasha’ (hooded toweling wrap) and baby blankets to its range.

The company also supports Tamba (Twins and Multiple Birth’s Association) and donates £1 from every online sale to Tamba’s work supporting families with a baby / babies in neo natal care. So far, Morrck has donated over £3,000 to Tamba.

Isobel said: “When I started the business, I wanted to make products that made parents lives easier, and what makes the hard work so worthwhile is the lovely feedback we get from mums and dads. I’m thrilled to have been nominated for this award, in a category with some amazing mums running great businesses.”

Jane Hopkins MBE, founder of MumsClub said: “The nominations this year have been of a very high standard and it has been my pleasure to personally go through them all to create a shortlist to pass to our esteemed judging panel. Starting a business is hard at the best of times, but to do so alongside a growing family makes it so much more demanding. Being nominated by a fellow mum in business is a huge accolade in itself and I hope all those nominated are incredibly proud of themselves.”

The judging panel consist of previous Business Mum Award winners and industry professionals.
