New Bob Dylan graphics to be unveiled in Milton Keynes
A new collection of limited edition graphics by Bob Dylan will be unveiled at a Milton Keynes gallery today (October 5).
Mondo Scripto has been released by the UK’s leading fine art publisher, Washington Green Fine Art, and will be available to buy from Castle Fine Art in centre:mk The first of its kind from Dylan, the collection features a selection of the artist’s most renowned lyrics, each handwritten by him in pen on paper and accompanied by an original pencil drawing offering for the very first time ever a visual representation of the lyrics by the artist. The body of work reflects Dylan’s tendency to return to his songs again and again, both musically and lyrically, continually tweaking and reworking them. In some of the graphics it is apparent that he has changed a few lines of the song. In others, including ‘Gotta Serve Somebody’ (1979) and ‘If You See Her, Say Hello’ (1975), verses have been completely redrafted. In the foreword to the collection catalogue, Tom Piazza, a celebrated novelist and writer on American music, states ‘Mondo Scripto provides the occasion for a fresh and unexpected window on one of the most significant bodies of work of any creative artist in our time.’ He continues, ‘the unexpected couplings of these works and images offer a surprisingly intimate door into each song, adding dimension, delight and insight into the artist’s relation to his own work.’
