Milton Keynes Hospital will have a new chairman from next month.

The appointment of Chris Mellor was confirmed by the hospital’s Council of Governors on Tuesday night. He has been appointed for 10 months.

Mr Mellor has previously served as deputy chairman of Monitor, the organisation which regulates Foundation Trust hospitals like Milton Keynes.

Having spent eight years at Monitor until March 2012, he then served nine months as an interim chairman at Sherwood Forest NHS Foundation Trust Hospital.

Milton Keynes Hospital chief executive Joe Harrison said: “We are looking forward to welcoming Chris. His experience and knowledge will be of huge value to Milton Keynes.”

Mr Mellor has an accountancy background and has held positions as finance director and chief executive officer of Anglian Water plc and as chairman of Northern Ireland Water Ltd.

He is a frequent speaker on leadership, change management and sustainable development.

He will replace the hospital’s current chairman, David Wakefield, who is stepping down after two and a half years.
