Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce is on its way back from the dead.
A new company called Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce Limited was formed on June 10, on the Companies House website.
Its address has been given as care of Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce, Waterside Way, Northampton, with the company number 08562352 and its status being “active”.
Neither the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce nor the British Chambers of Commerce wished to say anything publicly.
The Citizen understands a launch event has been pencilled in for the next few weeks, pending a final meeting.
The former Milton Keynes and North Bucks Chamber of Commerce, which represented hundreds of companies in the new city, dramatically stopped trading in February owing money to a number of creditors.
The once prestigious organisation closed without even the cash to fund its own liquidation.
The office was cleared and phone lines were disconnected and the British Chamber of Commerce stepped in to terminate all accreditation.
Surrounding Chambers of Commerce stepped in to help and made bids to run the organisation, including Bedfordshire.
At the time of the collapse, Northamptonshire’s Chamber said: “Now that the Milton Keynes & North Bucks Chamber is no longer trading, we don’t want its members to feel unsupported and out on their own.We still want them to feel that they have that backing and support and access to the services that are vital to allowing their business to function, particularly when it comes to making sure that their shipping/exporting processes continue to run smoothly.”
