New Milton Keynes pub set opening date and create 25 local jobs

The pub, which will be known as The Wheatsheaf Pub & Grill, opens on April 27.

Heroic Pubs, which also runs The Anchor at nearby Aspley Guise and The Knife & Cleaver at Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, is led by managing director Andrew Coath, who has run successful pubs in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire for over a decade.

The Wheatsheaf Pub & Grill will create 25 jobs for local people, with the recruitment process for front of house and kitchen staff now underway.

The menu will focus on chargrilled premium British steaks and daily changing fish and shellfish specials, while the quality drinks offer will include local beers from brewers including Hornes Brewery, also in Bow Brickhill and Leighton Buzzard Brewing Company, craft beers, an extensive wine range selected to match perfectly with the menu, a large selection of gins and a great cocktail list.

The pub is currently undergoing a £120k refurbishment to create fresh, contemporary bar and dining areas. The pub will feature an open kitchen so customers can enjoy the sights and smells of The Wheatsheaf’s team of talented chefs cooking their meals.

It will also feature a decked alfresco dining terrace and seating outside the front of the pub for drinking and dining.

Head chef at The Wheatsheaf Pub & Grill is Lewis Moore from Deanshanger, whose CV includes The Birch at Woburn and Tom Kerridge’s Hand & Flowers in Marlow. He is currently working at Heroic Pubs’ Anchor at Aspley Guise.

Lewis said: “The menu at the Wheatsheaf will offer fresh, quality produce cooked simply and to perfection.

“We will be offering a great range of steaks and sides and our fish dishes will change all the time, depending on what has been freshly caught by our supplier on their day boats that day.”

The Wheatsheaf Pub & Grill will also offer a welcoming bar area for locals who want to pop in for a pint or enjoy a delicious bar snack.

A Bill of Fayre set price lunch menu, will also be available from Wednesday to Saturdays, offering two courses for £12.75 and three for £15.75.
