New public art celebrating diversity of life unveiled in Milton Keynes

R3EVOLUTION, by Sara Myers, is a striking sculpture made from Corten steel, which will change colour as time and seasons pass. It depicts a lake scene, with fish and birds taking flight.

It offers a synthesis of nature and technology, thanks to the powerful combination of its industrial, urban material and natural, wildlife theme.

Loughton and Great Holm Parish Council commissioned Sara, a local artist, to celebrate 50 years of Milton Keynes.

She was inspired to create a work that reflects the way the natural parkland and spaces of the city harmonise with modern urban living and a message of hope.

The sculpture is located on the island in Lodge Lake, off Dansteed Way and can be viewed from the Redway path.

Julie Dawes, events & community engagement manager for The Parks Trust, said: “We are very pleased to welcome R3EVOLUTION to Lodge Lake. It fits well with the site and is a wonderful reflection of the diverse and inspiring environment that surrounds us. We hope park users enjoy it and take the opportunity to explore the other public art available throughout the city.”

Chairman of the parish council, councillor Peter Todd added: “The Parish Council was delighted to commission a local artist and is pleased to bring this project to completion. We hope that residents and visitors will enjoy the sculpture in its natural setting”. Thanks also to Councillors Gray and Sargent for all their work on this project.
