Next generation of doctors at Milton Keynes hospital get hands-on experience

Milton Keynes became a University Teaching Hospital in 2015, building on its long tradition of training medical students from Oxford University. Their new partnership with the University of Buckingham means the number of students training across all departments will dramatically increase to around 120 over the next three years.

Joe Harrison, the hospital’s Chief Executive, said ‘We are expanding our teaching capacity and expertise as at a time when training doctors is crucial both for the patients we serve in Milton Keynes and the wider NHS.  We are very proud to work with the University of Buckingham in nurturing and supporting the next generation of doctors”.

Milton Keynes is one of only a handful of NHS Trusts in England with University Status.  A new £8.5millon Academic Centre is under construction at the hospital, funded by the University of Buckingham, that will provide cutting-edge clinical skills training and education facilities for students, hospital staff, doctors, nurses and health professionals across Buckinghamshire and beyond - and is on schedule to open next February
