THE city will be represented in this year’s Miss Teen Britain finals by a 14 year-old girl – one of only 21 contestants to qualify for the last stage of the national competition.
Nicole Wright, who earned the title of Miss Teen MK last month, is geared up and preparing for the big finals taking place in Blackpool on September 30.
She said: “I’m really happy for getting this far, but it would be like a dream to be Miss Teen Great Britain 2012!”
Judges look for more than just a pretty face. Manners, style, conversational skills and life experiences account for at least half of the expected criteria, according to a Miss Teen Britain representative.
They said: “All participants are interviewed individually and scored according to their overall performance, not just looks.”
A pupil at Stantonbury Campus, Nicole also studies ballet at Myra Tiffin’s arts school in Stony Stratford. She confesses she’s nervous about the finals, and feels most confident about the interviews and personality tests.
The next challenge is finding sponsorship. Costs of costumes, make-up artists, travel and accommodation have yet to be covered, but Nicole remains optimistic.
She said: “I’m very grateful for the support I’ve had so far from my parents and both my schools, and I know something will work out.”
The winner will take home £1000 and a selection of other prizes, not the least of them, a year as Miss Teen Great Britain.
