Staff gave surprise gifts to children and their parents and also presents to families spending Christmas Day in hospital.

Manager of the day nursery in Westbury Lane, Elkie Taylor, spent the previous two Christmas Days in hospital with two-year-old daughter, Willow, and was delighted to receive presents for both of them.

Elkie said: “I loved it. It was such a wonderful gesture at a very difficult time for the family that I was determined to contribute in some way this year. As always our wonderful Meadow View parents and staff responded generously and enthusiastically to the idea.”

Elkie and Willow delivered over 20 wrapped gifts to the Riverbank Children’s Ward at Bedford Hospital. The gifts for both children and adults who will be spending Christmas Day in the hospital ward are just one of the goodwill initiatives at the nursery where a large box invites parents and children to take a gift and leave a small donation for charity if they wish.
