Students from Oakgrove School were recently asked by property developer Crest Nicholson to take part in the Ivor Goodsites Hoarding Competition 2014; last year over 2000 children took part from all over the UK.

The competition involves students creating colourful and decorative board designs based on Milton Keynes, which will be positioned on the hoarding on the Oakgrove site, opposite the school. Students from Years 7, 8 and 9 have been working on six boards which span a total of 48ft.

Inspiration for the designs has come from the famous artist Hundertwasser who Year 7 students have been studying in class. The image students have created is an interpretation of Hundertwasser’s style and incorporates many of Milton Keynes’ famous landmarks including Xscape, the MK Dons Stadium and even the concrete cows!

A total of 20 students took part in creating the boards including some future Year 9 GCSE students to oversee the final designs.

Students have worked on this project after school for the last two weeks and have really enjoyed taking part. The final pieces look fabulous and both students and staff can’t wait for them to be on display!
