He said: “I am pleased as a citizen of Milton Keynes for 30 years to have had this opportunity.
“I am confident that I am leaving The Parks Trust in the safe hands of David and his team, supported by Liz, Richard and all of the Board of Trustees. The people of Milton Keynes have reason to be proud of The Parks Trust and the green estate that it manages on their behalf.”
Liz Gifford joined the Board of the Trust in 1995 and has been deputy chairman since 2007. She said: “John will be a hard act to follow but we have an excellent team of hard working colleagues led by David and a strong Board of Trustees, with the appropriate in depth experience and expertise.”
Four trustees have also retired with Dave Thompson, Tim Skelton, Mike Galloway, Ric Brackenbury, Jean Nicholas, Keith Edginton and Isobel McCall joining the board.
Speaking of John’s retirement, Parks Trust chief executive, David Foster, said he was a truly inspirational chairman who played a pivotal role in laying the foundation for the Trust’s long term success.
