Optician staff hope to see top of Mount Kilimanjaro

STAFF members from a city opticians will push themselves to the physical limit by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Willen Hospice.

Baljit Kaur and John Singh, from Specsavers in Silbury Arcade, will start their epic journey on October 11 and hope to add to the £2,500 already raised in-store. The gruelling 50-mile trek, which finishes 6,000 metres above sea level, will take six days to complete.

Store director Ms Kaur said: “The climb will be one of the most demanding and exhausting things we have ever done but we look forward to the challenge of raising money for such a worthwhile charity.

“We have been donating £1 from every eye test throughout June and we hope to raise a total of £8,000 for the cause. We are extremely grateful for all the support received so far and can’t wait to start the climb!”
