WOBURN Sands have vowed to save their library in light of proposals which could see them close.
Members and residents have come together to formulate ideas and alternatives, should the council have their way and the library be forced into closure.
One potential could be a community library, run by the Library Trust.
Cllr David Hopkins, who represents Woburn Sands in Milton Keynes Council, believes that the town needs a library.
“We will do all we can do preserve the library as it is in its current form,” he said. “I am writing to all residents in Woburn Sands to support it.
“The problem at the moment is that it already has limited opening hours and is not always open when people need it and the building is not owned by the council, and needs a lot of work.
“There are other options. A community library run by the Library Trust is one, and perhaps a move elsewhere in the town.
“But is it still a very important facility in Woburn Sands, and one that I think more people will feel the loss of if it were no longer there.”
The final decision on the future of libraries will be made this month.
