LONDON Midland passengers faced delays this morning after strikes from the train drivers’ union cancelled routes to the capital.

The 7.12am service from Bletchley to London Euston was cancelled, forcing passengers onto the later 7.32am service.

A spokesman from London Midland said: “Unfortunately, ASLEF (the train drivers’ union) has not renewed an agreement relating to drivers working overtime days and it is therefore likely that some trains will have to be cancelled on certain days.

“To allow for additional training, we run up to 10 per cent of our trains using drivers working pre-booked overtime.

“This is fairly standard practice across public transport, although not all companies have a specific agreement with the union.”
