A PINING pet owner has spent every penny of her savings hiring a team of private detectives to search for her lost cat.

Distraught Gabriela Brunning has cried every day since 12-year-old Spike went missing almost four weeks ago.

Just made redundant from her job as a carer, she used her last £250 to recruit a professional team from Animal Search UK.

“I love him so much. He is priceless,” she said.

Led by former police officer Tom Watkins, the team can carry out door to door enquiries, produce leaflets and follow up sightings.

Tom said: “Most missing pets are found within a few miles of home. The challenge is making sure that as many people as possible are encouraged to be vigilant in keeping an eye out for them.”

Spike disappeared from Furzton, where Gabriela and her husband moved three months ago. It is thought he may be returning to their previous home in Giffard Park.

A slim black cat, he has a birth defect that has left him with a distinctive ‘double lip’.

Anybody with information should call the pet detectives, in confidence if they wish, on 07884316943 or Gabriela on 07523605297.
