HELP is at hand for victims of domestic abuse thanks to the fund raising efforts of students at Milton Keynes College.
Health and Social Care students organised fundraising activities as part of citizenship activities at MK College and collected £130 by selling cakes, Valentine’s cards, and carrying out beauty treatments.
The money has been used to buy starter packs for MK ACT – the new name for Milton Keynes Women’s Aid – which provides safe emergency accommodation in Milton Keynes for women and children escaping domestic violence.
Health and social care tutor Sally Archer said: “The packs contain basic equipment like cutlery, plates, saucepans, a kettle and toaster, which people who escape abuse need when they start their new life elsewhere.
“It’s important for students to get involved in their community, and the fact students could see exactly what their money had bought gave them a real sense of achievement.”
