Pancake race entrants are batter than the rest

HUNDREDS of women demonstrated some flipping good talents in this year’s Olney Pancake Race.

Entrants of all ages took to the 415-yard High Street course – from the Market Place to a point midway down Church Lane – in glorious sunshine to compete in the race which is the oldest of its kind across the world.

The historic event sees people not only compete against each other locally but their times are then taken and compared against competitors from the town of Liberal in Kansas, USA.

Women are required to be over the age of 18 and must wear the traditional costume of housewife apron, skirt and head covering.
