Parkinson’s Awareness Week culminates in Milton Keynes with a fun day at MK Dons this weekend.

On Saturday, Parkinson’s UK is inviting people to join them in The City Square (by Marks & Spencer) Central Milton Keynes in the morning, or at the Family Fun Day at stadium:mk in the afternoon.

Milton Keynes has had its own support group for about 10 years, which is organised by volunteers – some have Parkinson’s, others are carers. The group’s aim is to support anyone who is affected by the disease and that can take the form of social meetings, assistance with transport, sitting and respite care.

A spokesman for the group said: “During Parkinson’s Awareness Week we try to reach out to anyone who is affected.

“Come and see us at The City Square from 10am to mid-day, or from 12pm to 2.30pm at The Dons ‘Family Fun Day’, at their stadium in Bletchley, where there will be over 50 stalls located in the arena, plus others outside.

“We anticipate a balloon release at 2pm, although the exact time is still to be arranged. Why not stay for the game and help the Dons into the play offs.”

For further information about Parkinson’s UK call 020 7931 8080 or 01908 560658, or visit the group meeting which is held at CentreCom, Central Milton Keynes, on the last Wednesday of every month, starting at 2pm and lasting for a couple of hours.

Parkinsons can affect anyone and, at this moment, there is no cure and nothing can be done to prevent it.
