A city gym is helping to celebrate National Fitness Day UK 2012 by organising a FREE event for everyone to take part in.

Throughout the day, Fit4Less on in the Theatre District will join gyms, schools, groups and parties around the UK as they take part in ‘Empower Half Hour’ – 30 minutes of exercise to bring the UK’s focus on fitness and help people kick-start a healthier lifestyle. Fit4less, Milton Keynes will combine National Fitness Day with Macmillan’s Big Coffee Morning to raise money for the two cancer charities.

The gym is open for anyone to use plus classes on this day are also free. All donations will be split between the two charities. Staff are also baking cakes and giving out free teas and coffees.

Now in its second year, National Fitness Day UK, in partnership with the Fitness Industry Association (FIA) aims to become the biggest nationally celebrated fitness-focussed day of the year.

Natalie Poole said: “This is the perfect time of the year to start thinking about fitness and National Fitness Day gives everyone of all abilities a platform on which start a new and healthier lifestyle. We welcome everyone to join us on this day to be inspired by others and help celebrate fitness across the UK.”

On Friday, September 28, people are also invited to make donations at organised events to support Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity devoted to improving the lives of young people with cancer.

Kerry Johns, Mass Participation Events Manager said: “Sport and fitness are at the foreground this summer so this is a brilliant opportunity for people to get inspired by sport and take steps to improve their fitness. We recognise the importance of wellbeing for body and mind at Teenage Cancer Trust which is why we’re really excited about National Fitness Day to get the nation thinking about their health.”
