Adoptive families needed for children and young people in Milton Keynes
During National Adoption Week (19 - 25 October), the City Council is searching for ‘forever families’ for 10 Milton Keynes children aged between 12 months and six years.
Adoption Connects is a service shared with Milton Keynes and Central Bedfordshire councils. In the past six years, the team has helped 120 children in Milton Keynes to find an adoptive family, but there are still more children waiting, including siblings who need a family together.
An adoption readiness tool is online for anyone considering adoption. It provides answers to essential questions, offers hints and tips, and helps create a personalised plan so local people can make an informed decision about adoption.
Councillor Peter Cannon, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said: “Adoption changes lives, giving children the security, stability and sense of belonging they need to flourish. As part of National Adoption Week, we are encouraging more people to explore adoption and learn about the process for themselves.

"Unfortunately, there are many misconceptions about who can adopt, but the reality is that adopters come from a wide range of backgrounds. We would encourage anyone interested in finding out more to attend one of our information sessions and speak to our experienced team.”
Adoption Connects offers a wide range of free services from training and advice through to financial support and regular social events.
On Thursday, November 19, Adoption Connects is hosting an in-person information session to outline the adoption process plus the resources and support available.
The event will be held at Central Bedfordshire Council Offices from 3pm to 4:30pm, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about what is involved. Visit Eventbrite to find out more and book your space.
